Works

“Gareleya Neotodresh”

“Gareleya Neotodresh” is an artist collective, created as a sign of protest against the absence of uncensored, public exhibition spaces in Lysychansk, Ukraine. The team specially promotes young, promising artists from the Donbas region and discovers new, non-traditional exhibition spaces that can provide a platform for a public display of works. The team motto is “Neotodresh,” which translates to
|”Hareleia is open for Each. No days off, no breaks” The team remains true to itself even in times of war. Art continues to be created and displayed in national, international, digital and analog
exhibitions. Thanks to the cooperation with the advertising agency STRÖER, the works of art of the young artistic
collective “Gareleya Neotodresh” will be shown on digital information screens throughout Germany. The exhibition will preserve the collective’s inclusive and informal approach and will provide an opportunity to look at Ukrainian art in a new way.

“ Neotodryosh”

Zine

Usually “Gareleya” does not have an established format or framework. However, in this case, the exhibition has a clear format of zine and the frame is limited only by the number of pages. As always, the works presented at the exhibition do not have one common theme and idea, because we want to create a complete picture of the young art scene of the Donbas.

However, we also want to introduce you to artists from other regions, because “Gareleya” is open to everyone.

“Unwanted Memories”

Lysychansk, Ukraine, 2022
A3 format

When buying an expired Soviet film roll “ORWO Chrome” at an online flea market, I did not expect that it would already be shot. The seller, apparently, did not know himself that his memory, or the
memory of his parents, was inside this film roll. My camera supports multi-exposure, and therefore, when I shot with this film, the memory of people who lived in the era of the Soviet Union merged with my research on the remnants of the Soviet legacy in the Donbas. It can be said that there is no “before and after” effect in these pictures. I have received memories that I never wanted.

They remind me of the old ties of our country, which we are now trying to erase from our memory. However, the echo of russian colonialism was still quite noticeable in the cities of Luhansk region
until the full-scale war began. I received these photos on February 18th, they have become a bad omen for me, as if we will again be fighting problems from the past.
